Recode co-founder Kara Swisher says being a software engineer is like being a writer: the worst part.

She said that’s not necessarily a bad thing for someone with an interest in learning, as it can make it more enjoyable.

“There are always people that are more interested in getting better at programming than they are in learning anything,” she said.

“You’re not just going to do it because it’s fun, you’re going to try it because you’re interested in it and you want to learn about it.”

And as we’ve learned, there’s always more to learn.

“The more you do it, the more you get to know how to do things better, to be better at it, to know the best ways to apply it, then you get better at doing it,” Swisher said.

“So it’s kind of like the same thing with software.

It’s just a matter of getting to know more and better things and you get a better appreciation of what you’ve learned.”
